Man charged over 14-hour armed stand-off with gardaí

The stand-off ended peacefully after specialist gardaí and negotiators opened up communication with the man.

A 47-YEAR-old man has been charged with possession of a firearm after a stand-off with gardaí in south Dublin that lasted 14 hours.

Patrick Kinch of Deerpark Square in Tallaght appeared at Dublin District Court today charged in connection with the incident.

The stand-off ended peacefully yesterday and without any injuries after special gardaí and negotiators opened up communications with the man.

Neighbours had been evacuated after a number of shots were fired earlier yesterday morning.

Finch was remanded in custody and is due back in court on Wednesday.
