• New video showing Osama Bin Laden watching himself on television and rehearsing for terrorist videos has been released to the media by the Pentagon this evening.The images show Bin Laden at first with a grey and unkempt beard and then with a freshly cut and dyed makeover.
• The department of finance has denied a BBC story that Ireland is to get a reduction on its financial bailout deal but the reporter who broke the story has stood by his original report, pointing out that the department also denied his original EU/IMF bailout story back in November 2010.
• News breaking just this very hour that David Beckham was involved in a car accident in LA yesterday morning. He was unharmed but the driver of the other car has been hospitalised, reports TMZ.
• The junior minister at the department of finance has said that property developers in Ireland should not be seen as “social pariahs”. We’ve been asking you whether or not you agree with Brian Hayes’ comments. So far most have you have said ‘No’.
• Gardaí investigating the shooting incidents at Smithfield horse fair in March that left three people injured in hospital have arrested a 21-year-old man today. It takes to four the total number of people arrested in connection with the incidents.
• A 7-year-old boy was mauled by a leopard at a zoo in Kansas on Friday but thankfully survived and will be okay after he was hospitalised with cuts to his neck and head. The leopard had tried to pull him into the enclosure.
• A Canadian woman who went missing for seven weeks has been located by hunters in a remote area of the US state of Nevada but her husband, who was missing with her, has yet to be found.
• Irish Rail looks set to sell tickets Ryanair-style with low fares available to those who book online well in advance of their journey. Fares for a train journey from Dublin to Cork could cost nothing eventually.
• Bahrain’s government is allowing those in a patriotic mood to express their loyalty to the government via Facebook and Twitter. Its looking to dampen down anti government rhetoric which has seen protests that have left at least 30 people dead and carved up the country along religious lines.
• A prototype of a truly incredible device has been revealed – The PaperPhone really does look as thin as paper and is more flexible than any of the current ‘bulky’ smart phones on the market. Its creator says we will all have phones like this one day.
• A survey has found that the average age of women requesting the morning after pill in Ireland is 23. The Irish Pharmacy Union also found that 85 per cent of pharmacists say they have been asked for the morning after pill since it became an over-the-counter drug earlier this year.
• Further to the release of footage of Osama Bin Laden discovered in his Pakistani compound, Al Jazeera has today broadcast new footage from inside the compound in which he was killed last Sunday. Check it out:
