Four more arrested over murder of Galway teacher and publican

The four men were arrested today in connection with the death of John Kenny, 56, in Oughterard over a week ago.

FOUR MORE PEOPLE have been arrested in connection with the murder of John Kenny, 56, in Oughterard, Co Galway.

Kenny’s body was discovered in his family’s pub in the village on Sunday, 25 September.

A post-mortem showed the part-time publican and secondary school teacher had died as a result of violent assault.

Three men were arrested this morning: one aged 17, one in his 20s, and one in his 30s.

Gardaí say they were arrested in the Galway area following planned searches and are being held at Mill Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A fourth man aged 29 was also arrested today and is being held at Tuam Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Last week, Florin Fitzpatrick originally from Romania but with an address at The Green, College Road, Galway, was arrested in connection the murder and charged with withholding information. He was refused bail by Galway District Court at the weekend. Fitzpatrick is due to appear in court again on Friday.
