Two arrested following Dublin herbal cannabis seizure

Two British men in their 30s are taken into Garda custody after the seizure of 60kg of drugs at a premises in Drumcondra.

TWO BRITISH NATIONALS have been arrested after a major seizure of herbal cannabis in Dublin yesterday morning.

The men were arrested following a joint operation between the Revenue’s Customs Service and officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit, supported by officers from Store Street station.

The drugs had been imported through Dublin Port from Cyprus, via the Netherlands. They had been transferred under surveillance to a business premises in Drumcondra in Dublin’s north inner city.

It is thought that the drugs seized, which weigh around 60kg, have a street value of around €720,000.

The two Britons, both male and aged 37 and 35, are being held at Store Street under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Investigations are ongoing.
