Two attacked by masked men armed with machete and rifle in East Belfast

One of the men attacked was struck by the suspected firearm during the incident.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are investigating an attack by two masked men armed with a machete and what is thought to have been a rifle in East Belfast.

The attackers approached two men along Black Path close to Holywood Arches in the Connswater Street area just before 10.30pm last night.

One of the men was struck on the head with the suspected firearm during the incident, but is not thought to have been seriously injured.

The attacker armed with the rifle is described as 5′ 8″, muscular build and was wearing a navy ‘Adidas style’ top.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information, is asked to contact the PSNI
