Two fishermen found off Mayo coast

The alarm was raised when the men failed to return home by nightfall.

TWO FISHERMEN HAVE been rescued off the north Mayo coast by by the Sligo-based Coastguard helicopter.

RTÉ reports that the alarm was raised after the men failed to return home by nightfall on Saturday.

Their 36 ft fishing vessel had sank on Saturday afternoon, and the men had been floating in a life raft 13 miles north west of Downpatrick Head waiting for assistance.

They were located by the Coastguard at around 1am.
