ONE MAN was taken to hospital, while up to 50 apartments were evacuated, when a fire broke out in a housing complex in Dundalk, Co Louth last night.
The fire is thought to have broken out in the kitchen area of a top-floor apartment at The Laurels, in the central Long Walk area of the town, at around 10:45pm last night.
Three fire engines attended the scene, with approximately 40 to 45 residents evacuated from the apartment complex.
One man, in his early 40s, was removed from the apartment in which the fire started by fire service personnel.
He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
It is understood that one apartment sustained heavy damage, while a significant number of adjacent properties sustained limited smoke and heat damage.
The area remains sealed off for examination.
