PROTESTERS IN LONDON have forced Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford St to close.

The protest against alleged tax avoidance by big business owners such as the Topshop chief Sir Philip Green has also forced BHS, Vodafone, Dorothy Perkins and Boots to close their stores in the area.

According to Channel 4 News, the protesters claim Green deliberately avoided paying hundreds of millions of pounds by channelling funds from the Arcadia retail group offshore.

The BBC reports that Green’s wife, which is the company’s direct owner, lives in a tax haven.

The UK Uncut group claims that the tax Green allegedly avoided paying would have paid for 20,000 NHS nurses.

Security guards removed protesters, shoppers and journalists from the Oxford St store after demonstrators began sticking labels marked “Special offer: this item is free. Philip Green owes you £300 million tax this year” on products in the shop.

Demonstrators at the Brighton branch of the chain have superglued their hands to the store window.
