Bad weather ahead as weather warnings come into effect

Snow and ice is expected in Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal over the coming days.

A WEATHER WARNING is in place for Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, with snow and ice expected over the coming days.

The Met Éireann warning, in place until this Sunday, also makes mention of possible blizzards and snow drifts in these regions.

Munster, Connacht and Leinster can also expect heavy rain over the next two days, which may lead to spot flooding in parts.

The wet and windy weather is expected to spread from the southwest today, leading to snow in areas of Ulster later tonight.
