Bodies of woman and son found after Co Meath fire

The bodies of the woman and her six-year-old son were discovered in a house on the Trim Road in Navan.

A MOTHER and her young son have been found dead following a house fire in Navan, Co Meath.

Gardaí say that the bodies of the 28-year-old woman and her son, 6, were discovered in an upstairs bedroom.

The alarm was raised at around 1pm today, and no one else was in the house at Canterbrook on the Trim Road at the time.

The bodies were discovered during a search of the house. They have been removed to Navan Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Gardaí said this evening that at this point in their investigation they do not believe the fire was started intentionally. Investigations continue.
