Woman assaulted 'a number of times' during Mayo break-in

Two masked men, both believed to be armed with knives, entered a house and asked the woman about the whereabouts of her partner.

A WOMAN HAS been assaulted during a break-in at a house in Mayo. The incident occurred at a house in Charlestown at approximately 11.15pm on Friday night.

Two masked men, both believed to have been armed with knives, entered the house through the front door. They asked the woman, who was the only occupant of the house, the whereabouts of her partner.

Gardaí said the woman was “assaulted a number of times” but her injuries are not serious. The raiders then left the house, without stealing any property. Their mode of transport it not known at this stage.

One of the men is described as being 6′ and was wearing a red or green jacket. He was armed with a knife. The other is described as wearing a dark tracksuit.
