A WOMAN HAS died after the car in which she was travelling struck a truck in Cork this morning.
The collision, at Reas Cross on the N72 Castletownroche to Mallow road, occurred at around 10:10am.
The female driver of the car was fatally injured, while a nine-year-old girl who was also in the car escaped uninjured.
The male driver of the truck was also unhurt.
The road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place. The N73, which is an alternative route, is also closed due to roadworks.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Fermoy Garda Station at (025) 82100, the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
