Two arrests at cannabis factory in continued Belfast raids

The raid in Castlereagh is the 12th in the area in the past week and brings the value of illegal drugs recovered to £30,000 since Friday.

A CANNABIS FACTORY containing £23,000 worth of class A and B drugs was uncovered in Belfast yesterday leading to the arrest of two people.

The 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were arrested in the Castlereagh area on suspicion of cultivating the cannabis, supplying drugs as well as other offences. They were later released on bail pending further inquiries.

PSNI officers said that since Friday they had now conducted 12 separate searches in the area, made 12 arrests and 14 seizures worth a total of £30,000.

Commenting on the seizure local PSNI chief Derek Martin said that, “there can be no place for illegal drugs in our communities and the seizure of these suspected drugs on Friday evening is an indication of our commitment to removing drugs from circulation.”
