Gardaí seize cannabis and cocaine worth €130,000 in Co Westmeath

Gardaí discovered cannabis resin with an approximate street value of €60,000 and cocaine with an approximate street value of €70,000.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED cannabis and cocaine worth €130,000 in Co Westmeath.

Gardaí from the special crime task force and the drugs and organised crime bureau carried out a search of a house at Gortumblo, Rochfortbridge, near the Meath border, yesterday evening.

Gardaí said it was part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of controlled substances.

During the search, gardaí discovered cannabis resin with an approximate street value of €60,000 and cocaine with an approximate street value of €70,000.

The substances are subject to forensic analysis.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested.

He is being detained at Mullingar Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
