Man, 26, injured in Ballyfermot shooting

The condition of the man is unknown.

A MAN HAS been injured in a shooting incident in Ballyfermot in Dublin this evening.

The shooting happened on Lally Road in Ballyfermot at around 8:40pm.

An ambulance attended the scene and the victim was taken to St James’s hospital.

The gardaí confirmed that the man, aged 26-years-old, is in a stable condition in hospital.

Gardaí say the scene is being preserved for a technical examination.

Reacting to tonight’s shooting, Fianna Fáil local representative, Daithí de Róiste called for a dedicated garda unit to tackle a spike in gun crime in the Ballyfermot-Inchicore area, stating the shooting tonight comes just two weeks after the last one in the area.

“Law and Order is out of control in this part of the city and this is through no fault of the Gardaí. While our local gardaí are going above and beyond the call of duty every day to keep this area safe, the reality is that the violence is escalating and they need more resources to tackle it,” he said.
