Six die as powerful storm hits Texas

A powerful storm spawned tornadoes which hit several times in Hood, Tarrant, Dallas and Parker counties last night.

SIX PEOPLE HAVE died and more than 100 have been injured following a powerful storm in northern Texas, US.

The storm hit the town of Granbury in Hood Country on Wednesday night, destroying almost 120 homes, country sheriff Roger Deeds told CNN. It is understood the fatalities occurred in a Habitat for Humanity neighbourhood.

Officials say the storm spawned tornadoes which hit several times in Hood, Tarrant, Dallas and Parker counties.

Texan residents have been posting images and video of the tornadoes online.

The National Weather Service’s tornado warning can be heard on this video.
