When Leo Met Vincent

After missing out on Enda, Vincent Browne will interview Leo Varadkar tomorrow night

It will be Browne’s second-last show.

VINCENT BROWNE WILL get the chance to interview the Taoiseach tomorrow, having missed out on the chance to interview his predecessor.

Browne will interview Leo Varadkar on tomorrow’s show – his second-last programme on TV3.

Browne confirmed at the start of the month that he will step down from the Tonight show from Thursday after ten years at the helm. The station says Browne is doing so for personal reasons. Browne has not made any comment on the matter.

A statement from TV3 said the interview will be wide-ranging:

“Vincent will take this opportunity to ask the Taoiseach about his plans for his time in office and what he meant by vowing to represent ‘people who get up early in the morning’.

Another topic of conversation is sure to be Brexit and the Taoiseach’s priorities for the period ahead including Northern Ireland, the budget and the capital plan.

Varadkar’s predecessor Enda Kenny had refused to appear on the show after Browne had said he should “lock himself in a dark room with a gun and a bottle of whiskey”.

Browne apologised for what he called the “stupid and insensitive” remarks. However, in the run-up to the 2011 election, Kenny said that he would not appear on “any programme that Vincent Browne has anything to do with”.
