Greenland

1. Donald Trump has said he will not impose planned tariffs on a number of European countries after claiming a “framework” had been agreed for a future deal relating to Greenland and the wider Arctic region.

2. A reporting restriction that prevented the naming of a Dublin-based garda who received a suspended sentence for assaulting his then-wife was lifted after the defence conceded there was no basis for keeping it in place.

3. The European Union’s most senior General has said that war is not a certainty and that the current military build up on the continent is about deterring armed conflict.

4. Taoiseach Micheál Martin will travel from the Swiss Alps to Brussels today to attend an emergency summit of EU leaders, originally organised to discuss a response to Trump’s threats to seize Greenland.

6. Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of billionaire paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, will appear before a US congressional committee next month, although her lawyers said she would not testify.
