IN A FIRST for An Post, stamps featuring augmented reality technology have been released so you can virtually bring them to life.
The four stamps were released today to celebrate the Irish animation industry.
When scanned by a smartphone with the CEE App for Android or iPhone, a specially produced film featuring ‘Roy’, ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’, ‘The Secret of Kells’, ‘Nelly & Nora’ and other animated works can be seen.
The four 68c stamps were designed by Irish company Vermillion Design and they are available from most post offices, the Stamp Shop in the GPO and online. A first day cover and collector’s item booklet is also available.
The film was producted by the Irish Film Board Animation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. Over 1,000 people are employed in the animation industry in Ireland.
