Passenger in critical condition after driver fled from scene of hit-and-run in Co Cavan

A female pedestrian was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries, while the male passenger of the vehicle remains in a critical condition.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to a hit-and-run collision in Co Cavan last night involving a car and a female pedestrian.

The single-vehicle hit-and-run happened on the L1513 Drumlark, Loreto Wood, Co Cavan shortly after 6.45pm.

The female pedestrian in her 20s was injured and taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured.

He was removed from the scene to Cavan General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The male driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been contacted to attend the scene and the road is currently closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision and any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, to make this footage available.
