A BODY REMOVED from a Wexford town house today may have lain undiscovered for some time.

There was a large multi-agency response at a Wexford housing estate this afternoon as a man’s body was removed from a house.

Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and Wexford Fire Service all responded to a scene at Belvedere Grove, a housing estate in Clonard Parish, and gained access to a house where they uncovered the body of a male, aged in his 60s.

The scene was immediately cordoned off and a full examination was carried out, with locals reporting that men in ‘hazmat’ or boiler suits were seen emerging from the property.

A garda source has confirmed that a call came in at 1.40pm from a concerned neighbour, requesting that gardaí carry out a welfare check at the man’s house.

They were joined by the National Ambulance Service and Wexford Fire Service assisted with the removal of the man’s remains.

A forensic examination was carried out at the property before the man’s remains were taken to University Hospital Waterford for a full post-mortem examination.

In a statement, the Garda Press Office said: ‘Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a male in a domestic residence in the Townpark’s area of Wexford town, Co. Wexford, this afternoon, 15 April.

‘The male’s body has ben removed from the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course

‘The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation. The coroner has been notified and investigations are ongoing.”
