Witnesses sought to Cavan crash which killed teenager

The 18-year-old was driving a van when it overturned outside Shercock yesterday evening.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD male has died after his van overturned outside Shercock in Co Cavan at around 5pm yesterday.

The van was the only vehicle involved in the incident on the Kingscourt Road. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital.

A 17-year-old who was travelling as a passenger in the van was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A section of the road is currently closed to facilitate a technical examination of the crash site and diversions are in place.
