TWO CHILDREN WERE airlifted to hospital after a serious two-car collision in Co Mayo yesterday evening.
The crash happened on the N59 near Westport, at around 7.20pm on Wednesday.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 30s, was airlifted to University Hospital Galway with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two children, a boy and a girl who were passengers in the same car, were taken by air ambulance to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street in Dublin for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, also a man in his 30s, was brought by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital with serious injuries.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward and are asking anyone who was travelling on the N59 between 7pm and 7.30pm, particularly those with dashcam footage, to contact investigating officers.
