Woman (50s) killed in collision with lorry in Co Cork

The driver of the lorry, a man aged in his 50s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A WOMAN HAS died following a collision between a car and a lorry in Co Cork on Sunday afternoon.

The collision occurred at around 3pm on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen Co Cork.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the lorry, a man aged in his 50s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place as gardaí conduct a forensic collision examination.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling through the area between 2.30pm and 3pm on Sunday to come forward, particularly anyone with camera or dash-cm footage.
