Girl seriously injured in Cork after firework exploded in her hand

She has been brought to Cork University Hospital.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING all circumstances in which a young girl was left with serious injuries after a firework exploded in her hand. 

The incident happened on Barrack Street close to Cork city centre at around 2pm this afternoon. 

She has been brought to Cork University Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment. 

It is understood the child received serious injuries to her hands and also burns to her arms and face.

Gardaí are investigating.
