Cyclist dies after motorist failed to stop in Monaghan road collision

Gardaí are investigating and have issued an appeal for witnesses.

A MAN HAS been killed following a road accident in Monaghan yesterday morning.

Gardaí say that a 23-year-old male cyclist was fatally injured after he was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop on the N2 Carrickmacross to Castleblaney Road at around 10.15pm yesterday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the road is closed pending the completion of a technical examination by gardaí.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who travelled this stretch of road between 10pm and 10.30pm or to any one that can assist in this investigation to contact them at Carrickmacross garda station on 042 969 0190, the garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
