A NUMBER OF Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit TDs wore Repeal jumpers in the Dáil last month in support of the movement calling for a referendum on repealing the Eighth Amendment.
At the time, Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl said wearing emblems isn’t forbidden per se, but “party political” emblems shouldn’t be shown.
It’s not the first time clothing or badges worn by TDs in the chamber has come up, but it reignited a debate on the issue.
This morning, the Irish Times reports that the Oireachtas Committee on Procedures and Privileges is considering implementing a dress code for TDs and Senators.
