Explosion

Explosion at Limerick garda station

Station evacuated and one person taken to hospital after sustaining injuries in suspected boiler explosion.

ONE PERSON HAS BEEN INJURED in an explosion at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick city centre.

Gardaí say that work was being carried out on an oil heating system when the explosion occurred at around 1.50pm today.

The station was evacuated and one workman was taken to the MidWestern Regional Hospital and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí say that anyone who needs to access a garda station in the area should use the Roxboro Road or Mayorstone Park stations instead.
