Should schoolchildren be taught financial literacy?

Children in Britain will soon be taught about finances in school.

FINANCIAL EDUCATION WILL soon be part of the curriculum in all British primary and secondary schools.

Following an independent curriculum review, financial literacy was considered “the most highlighted area of importance by parents,” according to review chair Becky Francis as reported by The Financial Times.

It got us thinking – should Ireland follow suit? Currently, financial literacy isn’t a compulsory subject in Irish schools.
