Gardaí seize nearly €1 million worth of pills in Blanchardstown

GARDAÍ IN THE Blanchardstown area of Dublin have arrested a man in his late 30s, after the seizure of around €880,000 worth of illegal prescription pills.

An operation involving the Organised Crime Bureau and Blanchardstown drug unit led Gardaí to a house in the area earlier today, where they seized the following:

  • 300,000 Zopiclone tablets – a sedative prescribed for insomnia, which has been the subject of several Garda seizures in recent years. Street value: €600,000
  • 280,000 Diazepam tablets – a muscle-relaxant mainly prescribed to treat anxiety. Street value: €280,000
  • Heroin with an estimated street value of €3,600
  • Cannabis with an estimated street value of €2,400.

Gardaí arrested the man during the course of their seizure, and he is being held at Blanchardstown Garda station, under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
