Gardaí investigate botched attack at Dublin pub as regulars scare off alleged gunman

The incident happened on Saturday night at a pub in the Ballyfermot area of the city.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after regulars in a Dublin pub chased an apparently armed and masked man out of their bar this weekend.

The incident happened on Saturday night at a popular public house in the Ballyfermot area of the city.

It is understood that a man came to the pub wearing a mask and carrying what is believed to be a gun.

Sources said it is believed that the man had a dispute earlier with another drinker and had returned to the bar to threaten the man.

When he arrived to exact revenge it went badly wrong for him and the regulars in the pub put down their pint glasses and chased him back out onto the street outside.

It is understood that in the melee an item of furniture from the pub was used to dissuade the gunman from taking a shot.

“There was a large armed and uniform garda response but the situation had calmed and gardaí did not make any arrests.

“Gardaí are currently investigating an incident that occurred at a licensed premises in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, on Saturday at approximately 8pm.

“No injuries have been reported. At this time, no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. No firearm was discharged during this incident,” he said.
