Gardaí renew appeal for information into 2008 republican-linked murder of 27-year-old Donegal man
Andrew Burns was shot dead shortly after 7pm on 12 February 2008.
GARDAÍ IN DONEGAL have renewed an appeal for witnesses to come forward in the 2008 murder case of 27-year-old Andrew Burns.
Burns was shot dead shortly after 7pm on 12 February 2008 by persons linked to Dissident Republican activity and was found on a roadway close to Donnyloop Church in Castlefin, Co Donegal.
Although one person, Martin Kelly, has been convicted of his murder, a number of persons have been arrested in connection with the investigation, Gardaí have said.
“An Garda Síochána believe that a number of people were involved in the murder,” a statement said today. “An Garda Síochána are very grateful for all the witnesses that have come forward and made statements.
However, An Garda Síochána urge anyone with any information to come forward. The investigation is open and it is never too late to come forward.
“Any information received by An Garda Síochána will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
