Man arrested yesterday over Kerry double-murder is released

He was the second person to be detained over the murders of Jolanta Lubiene and her daughter almost two weeks ago.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man arrested yesterday morning  by gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a mother and daughter in Kerry earlier this month has been released without charge.

He was picked up for questioning at around 6am yesterday in connection with the killing of 27-year-old Lithuanian native Jolanta Lubiene and her eight-year-old daughter Enrika at their Killorglin home the weekend before last.

Gardaí confirmed this afternoon that the man had been released, and said that a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A murder investigation has been under way since the victims were found with fatal stab wounds in their home at Langford Downs in the town on the evening of 16 June.

Yesterday’s arrest was the second in relation to the killings. A man in his forties was detained last Sunday morning, and released without charge the following night.
