Man arrested after armed raid on Co Dublin shop

Supervalu store in Killester was robbed yesterday evening by two men who threatened staff with a gun and a hammer.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED one man following a robbery yesterday evening at the Supervalu store in Killester, Co Dublin.

Two men armed with a handgun and a hammer entered the shop at around 6.20pm yesterday.

They threatened staff and stole a substantial amount of cash from the shop before being driven away from the scene in a red Citroen Saxo by a third man.

The car was later found abandoned a short distance away, on Gracefield Road.

In a follow-up investigation, gardaí arrested a 27-year-old man in the garden of a house at Mask Crescent. He is being held at Clontarf Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be detained for up to three days.

Gardaí said they have recovered all of the money taken in the robbery, but are appealing to anyone who has any information regarding the incident to contact them at Clontarf station on 01 666 4800 or via the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
