Man arrested in operation targeting criminal organisation involved in €800,000 online fraud

It follows a report from an Irish financial institution last year about complex fraud relating to its online platform.

A MAN IN his 40s has been arrested as part of an operation targeting a criminal organisation involved in online fraud amounting to over €800,000.

This follows a report from an Irish financial institution in January 2024 about complex fraud relating to its online platform.

This involved the use of fraudulent identity documents to obtain payment cards which were used in high-value purchases in major retail outlets, ATM withdrawals and transactions abroad.

The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) carried out a number of searches of domestic residences in west Dublin during which a large amount of items of evidential value were seized. 

Earlier today, gardaí from the GNECB arrested a man in his 40s and he is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.
