A 46-YEAR-OLD MAN has appeared in court this evening charged with the manslaughter of his mother, 83, at a nursing home in Co Waterford.
Gerard Vollrath appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court in connection with the death of Vera Vollrath, who was found dead at the Killure Bridge nursing home yesterday morning.
RTÉ News reported that Mr Vollrath, who was arrested at Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon after his mother’s death was discovered, said “no comment” when the charge was put to him.
He was ordered to surrender his passport and to sign in at a Garda station every day, pending a further court appearance next Tuesday.
