AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED after a man died while in garda custody in Tuam, Co Galway, early this morning.
The man, 36, had been arrested for suspected public order offences shortly after midnight, according to the PA.
He was later found unconscious in a cell.
RTÉ reports the man was pronounced dead at 4.30am at Tuam Garda Station.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later today and the Garda Ombudsman’s office is investigating the death.
