Do you support the Government's short-term letting clamp-down?

We want to know your thoughts on the proposed legislation.

A LONG PROMISED register of short-term letting properties is unlikely to be introduced until summer 2026.

This planned legislation will require anyone letting a property, or bedrooms in a home for 21 nights or less to register with Fáilte Ireland. If located in a rent pressure zone, the property owners will be required to obtain change of use planning permission to rent out entire houses and apartments on Airbnb.

The government has said the register could take 12,000 properties out of the tourism sector and back into long-term use. In 2023, Fáilte Ireland said that 30,000 short-term letting properties were advertised online.

So today, we’re asking: Do you support the Government’s short-term letting clamp-down?
