Production in construction up by 0.7 per cent in eurozone – Eurostat
New figures from the European Union’s statistical office show that production rose by 0.7 per cent in the euro area in August.
PRODUCTION IN CONSTRUCTION rose by 0.7 per cent in the euro area in August, according to the newest released estimates by Eurostat.
The European Union’s statistical office reports that seasonally adjusted production increased by 0.7 per cent in the eurozone and by 0.2 per cent in across all member states, when compared with the previous month.
In July 2012, production increased by 0.1 per cent in the euro area but fell by 0.1 per cent across the European Union.
However, compared with August 2011 production dropped by 5.5 per cent in the eurozone and by 6.8 per cent across all members states.
Data available for August 2012, shows that production in construction rose in eight members states and fell in seven. The highest increases were registered in Portugal (+10.4 per cent), Italy (+5.3 per cent) and Romania (+2.8 per cent), and the largest decreases in Hungary (-5.3 per cent), Germany (-2.8 per cent) and the Czech Republic (-1.7 per cent).
