BROADCASTER SINEAD DESMOND’S departure from TV3 is “now a legal matter”.
Desmond, who had been at TV3 for 11 years and had anchored the Ireland AM show, left the station seven weeks ago amid reports of a gender pay-gap row.
A statement issued by solicitor Wendy Doyle on behalf of Desmond says that the issue is now in legal hands.
“This is now a legal matter between Sinead Desmond and Virgin Media.
“My client Sinead Desmond has been trying to resolve this matter since the beginning of the year.
“Sinead Desmond would like to thank her colleagues and viewers for their incredible support.
“We will be making no further comment at this time.”
A TV3 statement confirmed Desmond had left the station, but did not say why.
“Sinead Desmond has decided to leave Ireland AM after eleven years working on the show. We would like to thank Sinead and wish her well for the future.”
TV3 declined to add further comment.
