STORM ÉOWYN HAS made landfall in Ireland and its impacts are beginning to be seen across the island of Ireland.

Around 715,000 homes are without power, hundreds of flights have been cancelled, and the strongest gust in Ireland was recorded overnight in Co Galway. 

The air dome at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence has also been destroyed in the storm.

Here are some images from across the country of the impact the storm is having:

A storm-chasing crew from the Netherlands are in Lahinch in Co Clare, and one of the team can barely keep his footing in the winds:

The same team said they recorded gusts of 190 km/h on the coast of Clare this morning, and can be seen trying to capture that measurement.

The air dome at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, Co Mayo has been destroyed.

A home in Newtownabbey, north of Belfast, badly damaged after a tree fell on it.

The ice skating rink in Blanchardstown has also been destroyed, with the roof having been blown off during the storm.

Dolphin’s Barn firefighters have been called to the Harold’s Cross Road after scaffolding collapsed, and the road is completely blocked as a result.

And yet more images of damaged infrastructure, this time from McGovern Park in Newport, home of Burrishoole GAA, where a stand has been destroyed.

Longford Town FC’s stadium has also been extensively damaged.

The storm has also caused damage in Cobh, Co Cork.

This Sky News segment, live from Co Clare, by Stephen Murphy highlights the impact Storm Éowyn is having there.

“A few moments ago all the power went out, which is why you can’t see anything behind me,” he tells viewers.

Strong winds are hitting the country, as well as heavy rains, as seen here in Spanish Point in Co Clare.

As of 7am, the North also came under a Status Red wind alert and here’s the scene in Co Down this morning:
