• The Dáil is set to lose eight TDs as a result of the latest adjustments to the boundaries for constituencies. There have been significant changes to the boundaries of Dublin and Cork, as well as Connacht, Ulster and the midlands.
• The mayor of Bydgoszcz, the Polish city where Irish soccer fan James Nolan died, has asked UEFA to observe a minute’s silence at one of the Euro 2012 quarter-final matches being held between now and Sunday. James’ body was found in a river in the city yesterday.
• Ninety people are missing after a boat thought to be carrying 200 asylum seekers capsized on its way from Indonesia to Australia.
• The controversial ACTA treaty has been dealt a blow after a key European parliament committee said it should not be ratified next month. The anti-piracy and anti-counterfeit pact has already been signed by Ireland.
• The Michaela McAreavey murder trial had been adjourned until Monday to allow the judge more time to consider some legal issues.
• Ulster Bank has warned customers that its ongoing technical problems may mean that some payments into its customer’s accounts may be delayed by 24 hours.
• Responding to yesterday’s shocking report of the Independent Child Death Review Group Barnardos has written for TheJournal.ie about where children lie in Ireland’s priorities.
• The Court of Justice of the European Union said today that workers who get sick while on holidays are now entitled to another holiday.
• So Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has sought asylum in Ecuador’s embassy in London, but how is he going to get out undetected. The Guardian has come up with some ideas, from ordering a pizza and stealing the delivery person’s uniform, to pretending to be a member of the Ecuadorian Olympic team when they come for an inevitable visit.
