The Lenihan book launch: What the Internet thought

Our pick of the internet’s opinions on the science minister’s decision to attend the launch of a book ‘disproving’ evolution.

WHEN WORD BEGAN to get around that Ireland’s junior minister in charge of science, Conor Lenihan, had agreed to speak at the launch a book claiming to disprove evolution, the internet quickly lit up with discussion of his choice.

While Lenihan insisted he was doing so as a favour for the author, a friend and constituent, his argument rang thin with most.

Even the decision of the author, John J May, to withdraw his invitation for Lenihan didn’t seem to dampen the discussion as word got out worldwide.
