Two-year-old walking to nursery alone led officer to her mother's body

The girl told the officer that she was heading to nursery because she could not wake her mother.

A TODDLER WHO was spotted walking to her nursery on her own led an officer to the body of her mother when he stopped with her.

The police community support officer was driving with his wife when he saw the two-year-old in Shobnall Road, Burton-upon-Trent, according to BBC.

The girl told the officer that she was heading to nursery because she could not wake her mother.

The body of a 30-year-old woman was discovered when the girl led the off-duty officer into her home which was just yards away. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

It’s understood that the officer stayed with the girl until emergency services arrived. The incident happened on January 6 and the girl is now being cared for by family.

Inspector Steve Maskrey, from Staffordshire Police, said, ”This is a brilliant piece of work by him that shows that we are never off-duty.

The officer and his wife took the time to look after the little girl and stay with her until emergency services arrived. Sadly, nothing could be done to help the woman.

“My thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.”
