Wetter weather on the way as rain and showers move in for bank holiday weekend

Cloudy, cooler conditions are expected through the weekend before a drier spell next week.

IT’S SHAPING UP to be a wet weekend, with spells of rain and scattered showers expected across the bank holiday weekend.

According to Met Éireann, the weather will turn wetter and more changeable over the coming days.

Today will start off dull with patches of mist and fog before scattered showers develop later in the afternoon, some turning heavy.

Temperatures will reach between 13 and 19 degrees, with the warmest conditions in the east.

Rain and showers will continue overnight.

Saturday is expected to be another cloudy day with widespread showers, some heavy and possibly thundery, and slightly cooler temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

Conditions will remain mixed into Sunday, with a combination of cloud, sunny spells and further showers, while temperatures will hover between 12 and 15 degrees.

Bank Holiday Monday is set to be mostly cloudy but largely dry, with just patchy light rain or drizzle and highs of 10 to 14 degrees.

Looking ahead to next week, conditions are expected to gradually become drier, though largely cloudy, with temperatures turning milder later in the week.
