Face off

This is Ireland... in 250 faces

The portraits of 250 Irish people – both famous and not famous – will be exhibited in Dublin Airport for a year.

AIR PASSENGERS WILL soon be greeted by Enda Kenny, Brian O’Driscoll, Miriam O’Callaghan and Pierce Brosnan at Dublin Airport.

Photographer Kevin Abosch has spent two years taking the portraits of 250 Irish citizens, some well-known, some known only to their nearest and dearest. The result is being exhibited at Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport and will be exhibited without captions. Abosch said:

The images show everyone as equals. It’s not about the heroes or the villains among us; it’s about humans. Everybody was photographed the same way. Whether you’re the Taoiseach or an eight-year-old girl, you get the same treatment. It’s a very democratic process.

The Faces of Ireland Exhibition will be displayed from this month for a full year in the airside (beyond security) areas of Terminal 2. Proceeds of the exhibition catalogue and a coffee table book of Abosch’s work will go to the DAA’s Charity of the Year, 3Ts Turning the Tide of Suicide.

Here are some of the famous faces you can expect to see at the airport:
