GOOD MORNING.

Here’s all the news you need to know as you start your day.

Former TD

4. Former Fianna Fáil TD Jim Glennon came forward as the former politician who gave sex offender Daniel Ramamoorthy a character reference.

And while soaring oil and gas prices since the US and Israel attacked Iran nearly two months ago are likely to have many homeowners thinking about retrofitting to reduce their energy bills, the conflict could also push up prices in the sector.

On the frontline

7. An Garda Síochána has strong female representation compared to other European countries – within policing in Ireland women make up roughly a third of sworn members and an increasing presence across supervisory and senior ranks.

Yet for two experienced gardaí active within the Garda Representative Association (GRA), the working environment all gardaí face is becoming more challenging, and when it comes to balancing family life, “it’s women who take the career hit”.

Washington shooting

8. US President Donald Trump has used a shooting at a gala he attended in Washington to push his plans to construct a huge ballroom next to the White House that has faced legal challenges.

But he found himself on the backfoot when parts of the shooter’s manifesto appearing to criticise a “rapist” in the administration were read to him on 60 Minutes, causing him to angrily reject the presenter’s question that the gunman’s allegations.
