Gardaí appeal for witnesses after elderly man dies in Laois car crash

The incident happened on the R433, Tullyroe, Abbeyleix in Co Laois, at approximately 10.05 am this morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident in Laois this morning. 

A man in his 90s died in Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaois after his car came off the road and struck an unoccupied parked car. 

The incident happened on the R433, Tullyroe, Abbeyleix in Co Laois, at approximately 10.05 am this morning. 

No other injuries were reported from the incident. 

The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R433 this morning, Saturday 27 June 2026 between 9.30 am and 10.15 am, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
