BETWEEN 6 AND 9 June 2024, voters across the European Union will choose who they want to represent them in the European Parliament.
As a news organisation, The Journal’s mission is to provide independent quality information to those living in Ireland so that they can make balanced decisions on issues that impact their daily lives.
To do this ahead of such an important vote, The Journal‘s EU 2024 project offers debate and information opportunities on how the EU impacts ordinary people living in Ireland.
By voting day, we want all our readers to feel equipped to make the best decision for them – based on good information and knowledge about what MEPs can do; what competencies the European Parliament has and what place in Europe they want Ireland to hold.
We are paying particular attention to 18- to 34-year-olds, a cohort which sees fewer members voting in elections and engaged in media around political affairs. Through sentiment surveys, public panels and online and offline events, we are giving this demographic opportunities to engage with and help shape our coverage of these elections, filling the information gaps they are highlighting to our editorial team.
