Five arrested over armed robbery of Kerry post office

Men entered Tarbert Post Office armed with a hand gun and bat.

FIVE MEN HAVE been arrested by gardaí following an armed robbery in Tarbert, County Kerry on Monday.

At approximately 4.05pm two males entered Tarbert Post Office armed with a hand gun and bat.

They threatened staff before escaping with a small amount of cash.

Escape

The men made their escape in a black Mitsubishi Colt which was discovered burnt out nearby a short time later.

No shots were fired and no one was physically injured during the incident.

During a search and arrest operation by Listowell gardaí yesterday, the five men, all aged in their late teens and early 20s, were arrested.

They are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at number of Garda Stations in the Kerry Division.

The investigation is ongoing.
